Environmental-friendly technology
Shambhala promotes an environmental-friendly life-style by using alternative technology. We use solar power as a source of energy, and there is a rainwater collection system for our water supply. To heat the water we use a wet back (fire-heated), gas and solar energy.
There are also very efficient clivis multrum composting toilets and recycling for glass, metals and plastic. Food scraps are used for composting.
Shambhala has a collection of stand alone solar power systems. The first system here used a SEA Everest inverter, still going very nicely after 25 years. The second system went in 5 years ago with an Outback inverter. Our latest addition is with a Growatt inverter which has the the controller built in with all the bells and whistles. The only problem is still needs to be switched off and on every morning to get the solar to start charging.
The warranty technical help has been really slow to fix this problem. Hopefully I will have some more positive news soon on this Growatt inverter.
We are happy to give guests a tour of our systems.
